Docklands Brewery

Docklands Brewery - Liverpool's Baby Brewery 2020
The core branding of Docklands brewery was a very simple one. We wanted to focus in on the cities maritime history and go with a traditional but clean look. The main icon being a simple vector image of an anchor, tied in with a ribbon and Docklands Brewery title made this an easily recognisable and distinguishable brand within the the Liverpool Crate Ale scene. The off white and navy colour scheme would be the standard for the brands identity, the black and white version simply being used for media in which colour was not required.
When brewing craft ale, the range of different flavours and brews can be endless. To signify the different brews from Docklands, a brushstroke was added behind the logo, the gradient and often texture of the stroke was changed to signify different brews. These colour schemes would be used across the brand and the colour that was suited to the brew would stick across cask, bottle and canned mediums.
Another feature that became part of the core branding of Docklands was this seamless pattern, taken from the architecture of the Albert Dock buildings. This is yet another nod to the cities maritime history, and is very recognisable to those familiar with the docks.
The pump clip designs that were used in pubs featured all of the core branding elements, as well as necessities such as ABV percentage and brew name. The names of the brews also nodded towards Liverpool itself such as 'Three Graces' or had a maritime twist like Portside and Blondebeard. Some of the names alluded to what the ale was, Blondebeard being a blonde style beer and Portside being a porter.
Docklands was a very frequent collaborator with various businesses and pubs in the city. Collaborating with local businesses in different fields such as Barbers No.1 and Spitroast restaurants, as well as sponsoring and collaborating with non-league football team Witton Albion. All of the design work for these collaborations was done in-house.
